How to combat the deflation after brainstorming? Inspiration arrives occasionally, but finishing a book requires organization and thoughtful work. Who would want to read this? Sound familiar? You have no idea how the scraps and bits you’ve collected will fit together. Your initial inspiration fades, and your final book is too far away. Many people stop writing while they’re still in this part of the process because they lose faith. You may even be just a little bit in love with what you wrote. You doubt anyone else would understand any of it yet, but you get it. You know what you want your book to be about and have started writing it down often on little scraps of paper. You lie in bed imagining intricate worlds and maybe even see your finished book. You’re full of ideas and fueled by inspiration. With each step, I’ve also included some exercises and additional resources to keep you moving forward in your writing process. Knowing where you are in the writing process helps you decide what to do next and avoid getting stuck. You may move back and forth between steps over the course of writing the book.
